The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office sent out a press release this morning with more information about the man suspected of dragging a woman several feet during a carjacking.

Last Wednesday – Oct. 9 – deputies responded to Riverside Road in the Watsonville area just before 11 p.m. for the report of a carjacking. A 53-year-old woman was getting into her car when a man approached and pushed her out of the way. A female passenger who was trying to get in the car was dragged several feet as the suspect took off with the car.

Deputy Ryan Kennedy identified the suspect as Nathan Anderson, who has been spotted by local law enforcement several times since the incident and has fled with what Deputy Kennedy calls “wanton disregard for public safety, prompting pursuing law enforcement to cease pursuit.”

Saturday evening, deputies tracked Anderson to a home on Ryder Road in Watsonville. As they were setting up a perimeter, Anderson fled on foot through a heavily wooded area, evading capture. He attempted to force entry into a nearby home, and was unable to be caught.

He was last seen driving a blue 1995 Honda Civic this morning with the license plate of 3KKF716. He’s wanted on suspicion of carjacking, evading arrest, vehicle theft and violating parole. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to callĀ (831) 471-1121.
