Coroner’s Office: Suspicious Seabright death was suicide, not homicide

December 2, 2013

So here’s some pretty crazy news.

The man found dead with multiple stab wounds last Tuesday morning outside his Cypress Avenue home apparently died from self-inflicted injuries, the Santa Cruz County Coroner’s Office¬†determined. ¬†The Sentinel reports that Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputy Pat Dimick said he was “shocked” by the results of the autopsy.

The body was found by his neighbor around 7 a.m. on Nov. 26. Police initially called it a “suspicious death,” before later putting out a press release referring to it as a homicide investigation.

In the release, police stated the man sustained multiple stab wounds and that several knives were recovered from the area. The release also stated that evidence from the scene suggested the victim had been involved in a struggle prior to the stabbing.

KSBW is identifying the man in their web story.

Hmmmm…this is a pretty strange story, and one that I’m sure will bring a whole lot more questions with few answers.
