Scotts Valley High School closed Friday after threats made on social media site

Administrators canceled classes at Scotts Valley High School today after threats were made on a social media site.

District Superintendent Penny Weaver posted the following announcement on the school’s website:

Dear High School Families and Staff,

We have received information of a potential security threat to Scotts Valley High School just before midnight April 11, 2013. In an abundance of caution, all classes at SVHS are dismissed for Friday, April 12, 2013. Scotts Valley Police Department is conducting an investigation and working closely with school officials. As further information becomes available, we will continue to publish updates to all parents and staff with email addresses in our database and on the school district website at www.scottsvalleyusd.org. Announcements will also be sent to radio station KSCO 1080AM

All other school sites are planned to be in session at this time.

The safety of our students and staff is our priority. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

KSBW reports the threat was posted online last night. Patch reports it was made on Facebook.
