Santa Cruz County health officials report two more flu cases

The county’s health department today announced two more flu cases, bringing the number of people who have required treatment in intensive care for the flu to a total of eight, the Sentinel reports.

There have been a reported 29 fatalities linked to the illness in the Bay Area recently, including at least one in Santa Cruz County.

The county health department has a special section on its website devoted to information about the flu. The best way to avoid the illness is to get the flu vaccine. The department also has a section on where to find the vaccine. It’s also offering the shot for $30 a pop on weekday afternoons at its health centers in Santa Cruz and Watsonville.
