Police investigating “suspicious death” in Seabright

November 26, 2013

IMG_0974Santa Cruz police are investigating the death of a man found dead in a driveway on Cypress Avenue in the Seabright neighborhood this morning. It’s being treated as suspicious at this point, though police are likely to declare it a homicide.

A woman reportedly found the man’s body around 7 a.m. when she was out walking her dog.

Neighbors say the man was a constant fixture of the street, which overlooks Seabright Beach, and was frequently seen walking his dog McDougall around the neighborhood. Police have not released his name yet, though neighbors say his name was Kevin.

KSBW reports that the man was wearing a bathrobe and was stabbed several times. Deputy Police Chief Steve Clark says there is a “person of interest” being questioned. Calvin Men of the Sentinel has a few more details here.

More information is expected after 3:30 p.m.
