California – The New Olive Frontier

One crop that has proven successful despite California’s ongoing drought is olives, and there is a rapidly growing California olive oil industry that’s ripe for making a serious impact in the culinary world.

Locally, Dos Aguilas near Corralitos is putting out some lovely oils, and has been inviting the public to come visit their farm and pick olives. Throughout October and November, the farm offered pick-your-own sessions, as well as demonstrations on how to cure and brine olives at home.
