May 22, 2013

UC Berkeley journalism faculty member, best-selling author and foodie guru Michael Pollan has a new book out and he’s coming to Santa Cruz on June 18th to promote it.

Pollan’s latest book, “Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation,” puts the focus on the author’s own kitchen as he explores the role of the four classical elements — fire, water, air and earth – when it comes to cooking.

Bookshop Santa Cruz is hosting Pollan at Santa Cruz High, 415 Walnut Ave. The reading begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $31, which includes a ticket to the event and a copy of “Cooked.” It’s expected to sell out. More details here.

Pollan’s previous books include “The Omnivore’s Dilemma,” “The Botany of Desire,” “Food Rules,” and “In Defense of Food.” He’s also the author of numerous articles and op-eds.
