Back in September, Santa Cruz News told you about the efforts to start a philanthropub here in Santa Cruz.
Local poet Kevin Devaney – you’ve probably seen him on Pacific Avenue crafting one-of-a-kind poems on his vintage typewriter – was among those who spearheaded a campaign to bring the Art Bar to fruition. He’s an artist-in-residence at the Tannery Arts Center. The bar and cafe will combine quality arts and music programming with arts education in a fun, friendly setting while also providing a source of income for artists – who will run the café as well.
Earlier this month, the Art Bar opened in the space formerly occupied by Rebecca’s at the Tannery. I haven’t been in yet because I’ve been traveling on the east coast but I’m definitely looking forward to checking it out. Here are a few photographs from the Facebook page:
